The Library Content Rating functionality allows users to give feedback on the quality and relevance of content within your Library. It also helps Users to quickly identify the most valuable and relevant content and provides feedback to content creators and Administrators for quality improvement. Additionally, Content Ratings can be used to increase User engagement and involvement within the Library.

With the Content Rating functionality enabled, Users can provide feedback by rating individual pieces of content on a numerical scale of 1-5 stars (e.g., 1 star for poor, 5 stars for excellent) as well as provide comments. These ratings collectively determine the Average Rating Score, which is displayed on the content's thumbnail image and is visible to all Users with access to that specific piece of material. However, it’s important to note that detailed ratings and User comments are only visible to System Admins and Internal Users with “Document Administration” access to the Library.

How Do I Enable the Library Content Rating Functionality?

You can enable the Library Content Rating functionality from the Library Configuration menu by hovering your mouse over the header and clicking the ellipsis icon on the right > Configure Library. You’ll then click “Library Settings” and select the “Allow Users to rate Library content and view average ratings” checkbox > Save.

How Do I Rate a Piece of Content?

Once enabled, any User can rate content and leave comments by clicking on the star rating icon within the thumbnail image of the file. The User can then select the appropriate number of stars of their rating and, if desired, include a comment.

How Do I Track and Report on Rating Activity?

System Admins and Internal Users with “Document Administration” access to the Library can view detailed rating information and comments for individual files by hovering over the file’s thumbnail and clicking the ellipsis icon in the top right > Details.

The "Activity" section within the Details page displays every interaction a user has had with the file. Here's a breakdown of what you'll find in this section:

  • Activity - reveals the user's specific interactions with the file.
  • Rating - indicates the score assigned to the file by the user.
  • Details - contains the user's comments related to the file.

You can also use the Document Activity Report, which records every instance of a User's engagement with a piece of content, to view Users who have rated content, the specific content they've rated, along with their respective scores and comments for each content piece.
