How linked records work

When a record in Channeltivity is synced with Salesforce, a link is created between the record in Channeltivity and the one in Salesforce. For example, if you have Channeltivity's Deal Registrations integration with Salesforce set to automatic and a Partner submits a new Deal Registration in Channeltivity, this automatically creates a Lead in Salesforce and then links the Deal Registration to that Lead. The concept of linking is used by all of Channeltivity's integration points with Salesforce.


To prevent data conflicts, we make sure that a) each record in Channeltivity can only be linked to a single record in Salesforce, and b) that each Salesforce record is not linked to more than one record in Channeltivity.


Why would I want to change a linked record?

There are a number of scenarios where you might want to change the linked Salesforce record of a Channeltivity Lead, Deal Registration, or Referral, including:

  • The linked record in Salesforce was accidentally deleted or merged incorrectly
  • A Deal Registration or Referral needs to be linked to an existing Opportunity in Salesforce 
  • A Salesforce Lead was converted without creating an Opportunity 


How do I remove the Salesforce link of a Lead, Deal Registration, or Referral in Channeltivity?

  1. Make sure you have Channeltivity Administrator privileges.
  2. Go to the record's page in Channeltivity and click the Salesforce button in the top right > Unlink. 

  3. Confirm you want to unlink the records by selecting the "I'm sure I want to unlink this record" checkbox > Unlink. 



How do I link a Lead, Deal Registration, or Referral to an existing Salesforce record?

  1. Go to the record's page in Channeltivity and click the Salesforce button in the top right > Link to existing Salesforce Lead/Opportunity. 

  2. Go to Salesforce and copy the Salesforce URL of the Lead or Opportunity you would like to link the Channeltivity record to.


  3. Paste the URL of the Salesforce Lead or Opportunity into Channeltivity. Then, select which system (Salesforce or Channeltivity) should be the master for the sync for mapped fields with conflicting values and click "Next."

  4. Confirm you want to link the records by clicking the "This is correct. I wish to link these records" checkbox > Link.

Can a Lead, Deal, or Referral be linked to multiple Salesforce Leads or Opportunities?

No, it's not possible to link a Lead, Deal, or Referral in Channeltivity to multiple Salesforce Leads or Opportunities as Channeltivity only supports a one-to-one connection.
