What is a Publish Status and how is it used in the Training and Certification Module?

Certifications and Courses have a Publish Status field that determines their visibility within Channeltivity.  The Publish Status field is necessary to avoid conflicts while creating new content and editing existing content. Below are the three different Publish Statuses that you'll find in the Training and Certification Module.

Hidden

All new Courses and Certifications that you create will start in the Hidden Publish Status. This status allows you to build out your Courses and Certifications while keeping them out of view from your portal Users. Any content that is uploaded or changed will not be visible to Users while in this status.

Capabilities while in Hidden Status:

  • Create Courses and Certifications
  • Edit Existing Courses and Certifications
  • Add Courses to Certifications
  • Add and Remove Group Access

Published

In order for Users to access Courses and Certifications, the status must be set to Published. This makes the Courses and Certifications visible to Users.

Capabilties while in Active Status:

  • Edit Existing Course Details
  • Add and Remove Group Access

Maintenance Mode

Published Courses and Certifications must be changed to Maintenance Mode for editing. While in Maintenance Mode, the Course or Certification will still be visible to Users, but they will not be able to access the content for completion until it is made Active again.

Capabilities while in Maintenance Mode:

  • Create Courses and Certifications
  • Edit Existing Courses and Certifications
  • Add Courses to Certifications
  • Add and Remove Group Access
