This article provides an overview of Channeltivity’s Organization Sync integration with Dynamics 365 CRM. Please also see the Dynamics 365 Integration: Organization Sync - Setup Walkthrough.

 

Channeltivity’s Organization Sync integration with Dynamics allows the two-way synchronization of Partner and Distributor Organizations and Contacts between Channeltivity and your CRM. With Organization Sync activated, creating a new Partner or Distributor  Organization (or User/Contact) in Channeltivity will create a new linked Partner/Distributor Account (or Contact) record in Dynamics and vice versa, while keeping those records synchronized. This ensures that changes made on one side are reflected on the other.

 

Once a Partner or Distributor Organization is synced with Dynamics, you can use the Dynamics button on the record in Channeltivity to do any of the following: 

  • View Account in Dynamics - takes you to the corresponding record in Dynamics
  • Sync Now - the Organization Sync runs a full sync once every hour, but you can sync individual records any time by clicking "Sync Now" on the record in Channeltivity.  
  • Full Details - view the record's integration status and sync errors. 
  • View Integration Log - view the record's sync history on the Integration Log.
  • Unlink - unlink the record from the corresponding record in Dynamics and link it to a different record in Dynamics using the URL.

If a Partner/ Distributor or User/Contact in Channeltivity is deleted, what happens to the corresponding record in Dynamics? 

 If a Partner/Distributor or User/Contact is deleted in Channeltivity, the corresponding Account or Contact in Dynamics is not deleted, but the “Channeltivity Status” field is set to “Active Partner/Distributor (Deleted)” or “Contact (Deleted)”.



Is it possible to configure the Organization Sync to be one-directional, so that data flows from Dynamics to Channeltivity, and any updates to Partner/Distributor data in Channeltivity don't get pushed to Dynamics?

The Organization Sync is strictly bi-directional. You can configure your field mappings and field visibility in Channeltivity to exclude certain data from being synced or edited, respectively, but it's not possible to configure the Organization Sync to be one-directional.



Are the Contacts associated with Partner/Distributor Companies in Dynamics pulled into Channeltivity as Users? 

Contacts are not pulled into Channeltivity from Dynamics as Users. They are instead synced to Channeltivity as Contacts and can be promoted to Users once their Organization is made "Active."
