The Agreements functionality allows you to automate your contract signature process. When enabled, your Partners and Distributors can electronically sign legal documents, such as partnership agreements, NDAs, etc., right within Channeltivity.

This article explains how User authorization to sign Agreements is determined within the system.

For more information on the Agreements functionality, check out: What is the Agreements Functionality and How Do I Use It?

What determines if a User is authorized to sign Agreements?

The "Authorized to sign Agreements" field in a User's Profile determines whether an individual is allowed to electronically sign Agreements on behalf of their Organization within Channeltivity.

Internal Users can specify whether a Partner/Distributor User is authorized to sign Agreements by updating the field in a User's Profile to "I'm Authorized."

However, if you're unsure who is authorized to sign Agreements at an Organization, no worries.

When there's a Pending Agreement awaiting signature, Partner Users are automatically prompted to confirm their signing authority upon logging into the portal. Their selection will automatically update the "Authorized to Sign Agreements" field in their User Profile.

Once the Agreement is signed, both the authorized User and other Users from the Organization will be able to access the portal.

What happens if the User is not authorized to sign Agreements?

The system will still allow them to access the portal unless your Agreement Settings are configured to restrict access until all required Agreements are signed by an authorized User at their Organization.

When enabled, Users who indicate that they are not authorized to sign will see the system message below, along with an option to log out.

You can customize the "User Not Authorized Message" by going to (Settings > Agreements > Agreement Settings).

FAQs:

Can there be multiple Users at an Organization who are authorized to sign Agreements?

Yes, more than one User at an Organization can be designated as authorized to sign Agreements.

Can I impersonate a Partner or Distributor User to sign their Agreements?

To protect the integrity of the system, impersonated Users are not able to sign Agreements.

Is the Primary Contact automatically designated as an authorized User for each Organization?

No, the Primary Contact is not automatically marked as authorized to sign Agreements on behalf of their Organization. However, an Internal User can update the "Authorized to sign Agreements" field in the User's Profile to "I'm Authorized.
